PowerBall Hall is a fast-paced, gravity-defying ball exhibit that runs on KID-POWER. Featuring an interactive ball wall and hundreds of colorful balls, children learn about basic principles of science as they determine which pulleys, gears, flippers, blowers and launchers will project the balls through a maze of clear tubing to a centralized, elevated ball drop. When the ball drop is full, an alarm sounds, the shoot opens and the balls come showering down into the exhibit!

09/27/2009—04/11/2010 | Picture Your World Youth Photography Project <p>Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas’s very successful Picture Your World Youth Photography Project begins the 2009-2010 school year with a series of workshops that focus on discovering the unique qualities of Nature’s elements. A professional photographer and a professional naturalist help students fully explore their natural environmentthrough the eye of a camera lens. Classes for 8-12 year olds take place in the morning and 13-18 year olds in the afternoon. Students may borrow digital cameras or bring their own. 10/31/2009—11/01/2009 | El Dia de los Muertos/ Day of the Dead <p>Spend the day learning about and enjoying activities surrounding the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, held at Mission San José 701 East Pyron Avenue San Antonio, Texas 78214; from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is free of charge. The park will host activities and exhibits to explain the history and meaning behind Day of the Dead, its symbols, and the relevance it holds in our communities today. Ofrendas, or altars, can be viewed in the Visitor Center and inside San José Church. Participate in making traditional papel picados, paper marigolds, clay skulls, and skeleton puppets and masks.</p>

11/01/2009 | First Sundays for Families: Día de los Muertos Join us on Sunday, November 1, 2009 as we celebrate the rich artistic traditions of Día de los Muertos with papel picado, sugar skulls, a special nicho workshop, Posada-inspired prints as well as a tour through the Latin American Folk Art Collection. Enjoy the acoustic folk corridos of local band Inozentes and taste mouth-watering pan dulce and hot chocolate on SAMA’s new pavilion, along the banks of the San Antonio River. Refreshments provided by Panifico Bakery.
FREE for children 12 and under. Adults $8. General admission is always free for SAMA members.
